James and the Giant Peach
A design for theater
GRAPHIC DESIGN, TYPOGRAPHY, ILLUSTRATION

Objective
Create a poster and marketing materials for the STLCC Meramec
2025 theater production of James and the Giant Peach.

For this production of the classic story by Roald Dahl, I wanted to convey how James would have felt as he escaped his dark past and moved to a brighter future. The seven birds carrying the peach represent the friends he met along the way and how they helped him overcome his fears. The lightning bolt separating the dark and the light is a symbol of the hardships he had to endure on his journey to his future in New York City.  The entirety of the color palette branches from the two dominating hues. The typography was chosen to enhance the illustration and colors, while also demanding appropriate attention.
Play Synopsis
The play is narrated by the main character, James, as he looks back on
how he escaped his abusive aunts, met his bug friends, and traveled to
New York City to find a better life.
