Red Panda Process Book
A study on zoo wayfinding, symbolforms, and red pandas

Objective
Design a symbol for Washington National Zoo's wayfinding system. Explore further by creating a process book that includes research, development, and results.
Process
After making an icon for the red panda, I dived into the process book. Even though it was just Graphic Design 1, I wanted to go all in. I went for a simple, modern look, and selected the best photography I could find. I also used Chat GPT for the body text of the research portion in order to streamline the process.
Then, I decided to explore the printing options in our print lab. For my final product, I hand-cut each page, laminated the front and back cover, and bound it with heat tape.
This project was accepted into the 2024 Annual Juried Art and Design Exhibition at
St. Louis Community College.
